Lazy Chic

Tunic: LOFT outlet
Leggings and belt: Target
Boots: Dillards
Socks: No idea
Earrings and bracelet: Missions fair at First Lutheran Church of My Town

As promised yesterday, here is my post on Lazy Chic, or Wearing Gym Clothes to Work. I had to take eight students to the airport this morning at 6:30. 6:30!!! I knew I would have to be at work through at least 2:30 (which, if you're counting, is an eight hour workday, all before when College Emily would start thinking about a shower some days). I wanted to be comfortable more than anything, so this is what I fell back on:

Leggings: I can't think of any pseudo-pants more comfortable than leggings. I would never advocate wearing leggings without a long tunic or dress over them, because having your booty hanging out there is tacky. But I loooooove leggings when paired with appropriate coverage. No sucking in my breath to make them button. No uncomfortable squeezing around my knees. Just blessed, blessed stretchiness. FYI, I actually did wear these to zumba class after work. So take that, work. I hip-swiveled in the same pseudo-pants in which I taught class.

Tunic: My beleggingsed booty needed to be covered, and this tunic is a pretty color and also very comfortable. I cinched the waist with a belt so it didn't look like I was wearing maternity clothes, but not too tight because that would defeat the purpose of the leggings. I wore a tank top underneath for extra warmth.

Warm socks and boots: It was chilly (for here) this morning and I hate having cold feet. I've been seeing other bloggers wearing tall socks over tights or leggings with boots, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I thought the socks did a nice job breaking up the dark brown of the boots with the black of the leggings, and my feet and calves were toasty all day.

So there you have it, my breakdown of Lazy Chic. The only problem I found with this outfit was that I looked a little like a cross between Peter Pan and Robin Hood. All I was missing was a sword or possibly some archery equipment. But I like both of those guys, and like I said, I wore these pants to the gym. Whenever that can happen, I'm okay.

  1. Tacky is right. But this is not tacky. This is a good outfit. The blue color is so vibrant. The boots with leggings and socks is one of my favorite looks.

  2. Thanks, Linda! The color is the main reason I bought this tunic - I love this deep blue shade.
